Ungogo Community Electrification Project Nears Completion
The Kano State Rural Electricity Board (REB) is pleased to announce that Phase 1 of the grid extension project aimed at providing reliable electricity to five key communities in the Ungogo Local Government Area is now 80% complete.
This significant milestone marks a major step forward in the state's commitment to enhancing rural infrastructure and improving the quality of life for its citizens. The project, which began earlier this year, involves the installation of new transformers, the erection of high-tension poles, and the stringing of several kilometers of aluminum conductors.
"This project is a testament to our dedication to powering every corner of Kano State. We are confident that the new infrastructure will not only bring light to homes but also power local businesses and create new opportunities for economic growth."
Engr. Hassan Garba, Project Manager
The remaining work includes final connections and pre-commissioning tests. The REB is working closely with contractors to ensure all safety and quality standards are met.
Project Impact
Upon completion, over 15,000 residents and hundreds of small businesses are expected to benefit from a stable and reliable power supply. The project is anticipated to be fully commissioned and energized in the first quarter of the upcoming year.
